Surfer riding a reef break — surfing resorts in the Maldives
Home/Surfing Resorts

Surfing Resorts in the Maldives.

Ride perfect reef breaks in paradise. The Maldives offers uncrowded waves, warm water year-round and luxury resort access to some of the Indian Ocean's best surf spots.

About This Collection

Ride the Perfect Wave.

The Maldives is a world-class surfing destination with consistent reef breaks, warm water year-round, and uncrowded lineups that surfers dream about. Whether you are a seasoned pro chasing barrels or a beginner looking for gentle rollers, the atolls deliver waves for every level.

Best Season: March to October (southwest monsoon) brings the most consistent swells. The North Male and Central Atolls light up with powerful reef breaks, while the southern atolls offer more remote, uncrowded options.

Surf & Stay: Combine world-class waves with luxury resort living. Many surf resorts offer boat transfers to nearby breaks, experienced surf guides, and all the five-star comforts for after your session.

Five-Star Resort Comforts

The Origin

Found by a Shipwreck.

In December 1973 a young Australian, Tony “Hussein” Hinde, was crewing the ketch Whitewings when it wrecked on a Maldivian reef. Stranded, he and a friend explored the empty atolls by dhoni — and rounded a headland to find a wrapping, six-foot left peeling off a deserted island, with no other surfer for a thousand miles.

He named that wave Pasta Point, made the Maldives home, and quietly surfed its reefs for years. In 1989 he founded Atoll Adventures — the country’s first surf operation — and turned Pasta Point into the world’s most coveted resort wave: capped, protected, perfect. He surfed it to the very end, passing away in its lineup in 2008. Nearly every named break on this page traces back to him.

“A wrapping, blue, perfect left-hander… breaking off a deserted island with no other surfer for a thousand miles.”
