The resort
Niyama Private Islands Maldives is a twin-island resort in Dhaalu Atoll, made up of Chill Island and Play Island, and reached by a 45-minute seaplane flight south of Malé in daylight; a domestic flight to Dhaalu Airport with a short speedboat is the alternative. Its 134 villas and pavilions range from one to three bedrooms, with beach and over water pool villas, family villas, pavilions of up to 770 square metres and The Crescent, an over water complex for large groups. Nine restaurants and a range of other dining experiences include Asian dining at Nest in the treetops, Subsix underwater, Edge half a kilometre offshore and reachable only by boat, Tribal around an open fire, the poolside Epicure and Blu, and the Surf Shack beside the resort's private surf break. Drift by Niyama is the over water spa with six treatment rooms, the FLOAT Dive Centre runs excursions, and the kids' club takes children from one to eleven. Bed & Breakfast, Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive plans are offered. The split between a livelier island and a quieter one suits families and groups with different tastes.
