Pelagics year-round
Deep plateau off the southern tip of Fuvahmulah (Gnaviyani), the single oceanic island the whole site sits on; the shelf runs to roughly 40 to 50 m before dropping past 300 m into open ocean. Strong up- and down-currents draw apex pelagics, including tiger sharks, thresher and scalloped hammerhead sharks, oceanic mantas, silvertips, marlin, tuna and barracuda. An expert-level dive; Fuvahmulah is dived year-round with tiger sharks reliable in most seasons.
