Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort has launched a marine conservation initiative in partnership with the environmental organization rrreefs. Located within the resort’s lagoon in the South Malé Atoll, the project features 13 3D-printed clay structures collectively titled Theyra Maa, which translates to thirteen flowers in the local Dhivehi language. This installation is supported by Edelweiss and the Lufthansa Group’s help alliance.
The structures are crafted from fired terracotta clay, utilizing a specialized design that incorporates micro-cavities and flower-shaped forms to promote coral larvae settlement and protect marine life from predators. By mimicking the complexity of natural reef habitats, the project aims to foster biodiversity and enhance the long-term resilience of the local ecosystem. This collaboration marks the first time rrreefs has partnered directly with a resort, integrating academic research from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich with practical environmental restoration efforts at the luxury island property.
