The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort has introduced three immersive guest experiences as part of the Good Travel with Marriott Bonvoy program, aiming to foster deeper connections between visitors and the destination. Situated within the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this luxury property now offers curated activities that emphasize cultural preservation, community engagement, and environmental awareness.
The new offerings include a workshop focused on Liyelaa Jehun, a traditional wood-lacquering craft, where guests learn from local artisans to help sustain the fading practice. Additionally, visitors can participate in guided excursions to nearby islands to observe daily Maldivian life through interactions with local businesses and community institutions. On-site, the resort provides educational tours that highlight the island’s ecology and the operational sustainability systems, such as water bottling and renewable energy, that support the resort’s environmental stewardship. These initiatives provide travelers with a more profound understanding of the region while encouraging a positive impact on the local community and ecosystem.
