The resort
Kilindi Zanzibar is a boutique hotel of white-domed pavilion guest rooms spread across fifty acres of tropical garden above the Indian Ocean at Kendwa. Originally designed for Benny Andersson of ABBA, it marries Scandinavian minimalism with the arched, domed vocabulary of Middle Eastern architecture, and is deliberately open to the outdoors — wooden-slatted shutters fold back from wide arched windows so the sea breeze and birdsong carry through the rooms. Each pavilion has its own plunge pool and a separate rainfall shower room facing the ocean. A waterfall bar in the Main Pavilion overlooks a 25-metre infinity pool above the beach.
