The resort
Joy Island Maldives by The Cocoon Collection occupies Kassanfushi, a butterfly-shaped island in North Malé Atoll surrounded by a turquoise lagoon and a house reef along one edge. Transfers from Velana International Airport run either by speedboat in roughly 40 minutes or by seaplane for guests preferring the shorter flight option. The resort opened under the Italian-designed Cocoon Collection brand in 2023 and features 151 villas, split between 60 overwater villas with panoramic ocean views and 91 beach villas set back into the island's vegetation. Interiors are by Italian furniture house LAGO, with contemporary lines and colour accents that distinguish the brand's design language from typical Maldivian thatched villa styling. Three restaurants and one bar handle meals, with the option to stay on an all-inclusive programme covering food, beverages and activities. Guests can book treatments at the overwater Dream Spa, take to the outdoor pool and fitness centre, or access water sports and guided dives through the on-site PADI dive centre. The combination of a short transfer, the Italian-contemporary aesthetic and a fully inclusive rate structure positions Joy Island as a practical choice for travellers who want seamless logistics over remote seclusion.

The Market is Joy Island's main restaurant, a lively venue with vibrant food stations and interactive live cooking. Guests explore an array of international cuisines that pay tribute to a diversity of flavours and cultures, served across breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nestled at the island tip, Palm Beach is a charming blend of restaurant and bar, perfect for watching the sunset. Savour a classic Spanish dish under sailed shades among the palms, enjoy a relaxed a la carte lunch on the beach, or return in the evening for freshly grilled barbecue under the night sky.
Il Basilico takes guests on a voyage to the Italian Riviera, where every dish blends flavour, tradition and passion. Savour scrumptious wood fired oven baked pizzas that capture the essence of Italy, and finish with the divine tiramisu. Open daily from late morning until late evening.
Joy Island describes its line up as three restaurants and one bar, so the resort has a single bar alongside The Market, Palm Beach and Il Basilico. The website carries no dedicated page, imagery or further detail for the bar, so nothing more has been sourced.
Rejuvenation awaits at the Oasis Spa, an overwater sanctuary where treatments are delivered above the turquoise lagoon. Specialising in massages, body treatments, facials and couples rituals designed to relax, restore and revive. The overwater setting adds a unique serenity to every treatment
