Joy Island Maldives, in the North Male Atoll, marked Eid Al-Adha with a three-day cultural programme from 26 to 28 May 2026 centred on Maldivian traditions and island community.
The celebration opened on 26 May with an Eid Night gathering featuring the traditional Eid Malhi lighting ritual, live Boduberu drumming and a beachside barbecue. The following morning brought Eid prayers and an Eid Salaam led by the resort's leadership, followed by an Eid Maali Parade with Bodumas performances and traditional dances, plus island games such as tug of war and Naashi Vehttu.
Festivities closed on 28 May with a Maldivian Night of local food, music and traditions. Ahmed Jihad, chief operating officer of The Cocoon Collection, said the programme was designed to create cultural connection and share Maldivian hospitality with international guests.
