The Standard, Maldives is spotlighting manta ray season, the annual gathering of the rays drawn by plankton-rich currents to nearby Hanifaru Bay. The resort sits a short distance from the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, giving guests guided access to one of the destination's most sought-after marine encounters.
Curated excursions take guests to Hanifaru Bay to swim alongside the rays in their natural habitat, complemented by a house reef reachable directly from the overwater villas and swimmable lagoons off the beach villas. Carlos Pradas, operations director at the resort's Drift Dive Centre, described the season as being about sharing the moment in the water rather than simply observing.
The resort pairs the season with snorkelling safaris, dolphin cruises and a Premium All-Inclusive option spanning dining, excursions and wellness, positioning the period as one of its most active times of year.
