Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives has concluded its initial quarterly waste recovery initiative for the year, strengthening its ongoing partnership with Secure Bag Maldives. Located in the South Malé Atoll, the resort prioritizes environmental stewardship by systematically sorting discarded items, including metals, glass, machinery components, and used oils, to ensure they remain within a circular supply chain rather than entering landfills.
This collaboration yielded significant results over the past three months, diverting several tonnes of material and over 3,000 litres of lubricants and cooking oils from disposal. By processing these items through sustainable lifecycle solutions, the resort generated US$1,700 in revenue. These funds are earmarked for reinvestment into the property’s broader environmental projects, reinforcing the resort's commitment to the IHG Journey to Tomorrow framework and demonstrating the practical application of circular resource management within the Maldivian tourism sector.
