InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort, in the Raa Atoll, has announced a week-long programme of marine-conservation events spanning World Reef Awareness Day, World Environment Day and World Oceans Day in early June. The line-up was developed with partners The Manta Trust, with whom the resort has worked since 2019, and Ocean Group.
Family activities anchor the week, from an ocean-themed origami class and a Finding Nemo treasure hunt to a sandcastle competition paired with a shoreline clean-up and an Ocean Guardians ceremony for younger guests. A coral-restoration workshop and lagoon clean-up extend the participatory theme.
The programme also includes an Ocean Bliss ritual at the AVI Spa and an Ocean to Table dinner at the Mediterranean restaurant The Lighthouse, highlighting responsibly sourced seafood. The week closes with a session on sustainable fishing and a cake-cutting with The Manta Trust.
