Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa has partnered with the resortwear brand Patémar to introduce a collection of men’s swim shorts crafted from upcycled ocean plastic. Each pair of these handmade garments repurposes approximately 12 plastic bottles, aligning with the resort’s ongoing commitment to marine conservation and sustainable operations on Thilamaafushi Island. This collaboration serves as a practical extension of the property’s environmental initiatives, which include a dedicated Marine Conservation Hub and active reef research programs.
Beyond the product launch, the partnership emphasizes a shared dedication to ecological responsibility. For every item purchased, Patémar donates one euro to Plastic Bank Indonesia, an organization that facilitates plastic collection while supporting local livelihoods. This initiative integrates seamlessly into the resort’s broader focus on protecting the delicate Lhaviyani Atoll ecosystem, offering guests a tangible way to engage with the destination’s marine environment while embracing an intentional approach to luxury travel.
