Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru recently collaborated with the residents of Dhiffushi to mark World Environment Day through a series of ecological restoration activities. These North Malé Atoll resorts, known for their private villas and focus on marine conservation, coordinated with local schools, government agencies, and community committees to enhance the island’s natural landscape. The initiative began with the planting of 20 coconut palms, intended to foster greener communal spaces and support the island's long-term environmental health.
The program also included a significant waste management effort, resulting in the removal of over 640 kilograms of debris from the local coastline. By engaging volunteers in this systematic cleanup, the resorts aimed to protect the surrounding marine ecosystem from pollution. This project serves as a quarterly component of the properties' broader sustainability strategy, which emphasizes community empowerment and environmental education as essential pillars for preserving the Maldives' delicate island habitats.
