W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island is built directly over the Yas Marina Circuit, straddling the Formula 1 track so that part of the hotel sits above the racing line and rooms look onto either the circuit or the marina. It is wrapped in a curved LED-lit steel canopy that changes colour at night and has become a landmark of Yas Island. The property holds 499 rooms and suites, rising to a Penthouse with its own pool, and is within walking distance of Yas Marina, Yas Mall and the island's theme parks. Public spaces lean loud and social rather than serene: two rooftop decks, an adults-only lounge, a sports bar, a spa and a steakhouse. It is a very different proposition to the same brand's Palm Jumeirah property in Dubai.
