Cocoon Maldives occupies the island of Ookolhufinolhu in Lhaviyani Atoll and is reached by a 35-minute seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport, or alternatively by a combined domestic flight via Felivaru followed by a 20-minute speedboat. Opened in December 2016, Cocoon is recognised as the first design-led hotel in the Maldives, with all 150 villas, three restaurants and two bars fitted out by Italian furniture brand LAGO. Accommodation spans eight categories across beach and overwater formats, with design features including floating beds and wildwood tables. Meal plans run from Bed and Breakfast through Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive, and the culinary operation is a consistent talking point in guest reviews. Cocoon is positioned close to more than 50 dive sites within Lhaviyani Atoll, including Shipyard, where two wrecks sit within the same dive, and Kuredhoo Express, a channel known for shark activity. The house reef supports accessible snorkelling from shore, and the dive centre on the island runs PADI-structured programmes.
