The resort
Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas stands on Kihavah Huravalhi island in Baa Atoll, part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and is reached by a 35-minute seaplane flight from Malé in daylight hours; later arrivals take a domestic flight instead. The resort has 80 beach and over water pool villas and residences, from one-bedroom villas of 258 and 267 square metres up to four-bedroom residences of 2,000 square metres. Six venues serve guests: SEA is the underwater restaurant, with what the resort describes as the world's first underwater wine cellar, SKY is an over water observatory bar, and FIRE, SPICE, Manzaru and Plates cover teppanyaki, Asian dining, Mediterranean Italian and breakfast. The over water spa has six treatment rooms, and the island also has a dive centre, padel and tennis courts, water sports and a kids' club for ages four to twelve. Hanifaru Bay, known for its manta gatherings, is about 20 minutes away by speedboat.
