Marine Protected Area

Marine-protected channel on the northern rim of Dhaalu Atoll near Kudahuvadhoo, with several sea-fan-covered thilas rising inside the kandu. Average depth around 27 m, mild to moderate current of about 1 to 2 knots. Incoming current brings grey reef and whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles and schooling jacks and snapper. Best dived on the incoming tide; northeast monsoon (December to April) gives the clearest water.
