Visit Maldives and the national carrier, Maldivian, are highlighting the archipelago’s high-end travel offerings at the Luxury Escapes LIVE 2026 event in Melbourne, held from 16–17 May. The initiative focuses on promoting the islands as a premier destination for wellness, romance, and luxury tourism while officially introducing new direct charter flights between Melbourne and Malé. Known for its iconic overwater villas and pristine coral reefs, the Maldives is leveraging this platform to bolster its presence within the Australian travel sector.
To formalize these efforts, Visit Maldives signed a memorandum of understanding with Luxury Escapes on 15 May to deepen their strategic partnership. The event features an immersive exhibition booth where attendees can access exclusive travel packages and engage with industry experts. This promotional campaign will culminate on 18 May with a ceremonial launch at Melbourne Airport, marking the official commencement of the new, more accessible flight route.
