Kandima Maldives launches biodiversity exhibition to celebrate Independence Day, backed by UNDP.

Kandima Maldives has inaugurated an island-wide Art for Biodiversity exhibition to commemorate Maldives Independence Day. Supported by a grant from the United Nations Development Programme, the project serves as a pilot for the resort’s KULA Art Initiative, which connects local creative talent with the tourism sector. The expansive three-kilometre island in the Dhaalu Atoll provides the backdrop for this summer-long trail, which features diverse works from more than 20 artists, ranging from digital installations to traditional paintings.

The exhibition focuses on themes of ocean ecology and conservation, aiming to establish a sustainable model for biodiversity finance. By showcasing these works to an international audience, the resort intends to generate funding for the Dhaalu Valla conservation area and local community projects. The showcase will conclude with a formal ceremony in late September, following a season of creative storytelling designed to promote environmental awareness through the arts.
