The resort
Al Maha sits inside the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, roughly 45 minutes from the city on the Dubai–Al Ain road. The resort is made up of 42 free-standing villas, each with its own temperature-controlled private pool and timber deck facing open dune country, and each furnished with Arabian antiques, handcrafted pieces and an easel with art supplies. The property is named after the Arabian oryx reintroduced to the reserve, and wildlife — oryx, gazelle and desert birdlife — moves freely through the grounds. Guest activity is built around the reserve itself: guided desert drives, falconry, horse riding, camel trekking, dune walks and stargazing, alongside the spa and the main pool. Dining is deliberately limited to one signature restaurant and a terrace bar, supplemented by private set-ups in the dunes and on villa decks.
