Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa, located on the secluded Dhonakulhi Island in the Haa Alifu Atoll, recently hosted the second annual Maldives Hideaway Resort Run on September 18. Aligned with World Wellness Weekend, the event drew 68 participants who competed in 5K and 10K races across the 33-hectare property. Athletes Sunny Schippers and Clara Abbona secured top finishes in their respective categories, with winners receiving commemorative trophies and model aircraft provided by the event’s transport partner, Maldivian.
Beyond the competitive racing, the weekend emphasized a holistic approach to health through a curated series of recovery and fitness activities. Guests engaged in sound healing, yoga sessions, and professional physiotherapy consultations designed to complement the island’s tropical environment. Supported by Visit Maldives and various industry partners, the resort intends to establish this initiative as a premier luxury sports tourism event, with plans already underway for a 2027 edition.
