British designer Matthew Williamson will host an exclusive residency at Finolhu from 21 to 31 October 2026. Known for his signature maximalist aesthetic and bold use of color, the designer will lead intimate workshops at the resort’s Art Lab. These sessions focus on abstract painting techniques inspired by tropical palm motifs, allowing guests of all skill levels to create personal artwork under his guidance. Located in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the resort is celebrated for its vibrant personality and iconic two-kilometre sandbank.
This residency is the latest addition to the resort’s ongoing Art & Design programme, which facilitates direct engagement between visitors and prominent global creatives. Throughout 2026, the initiative has hosted various figures from the fashion and design industries to foster a unique environment of cultural exchange.
