The resort
Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a private-island resort in the Blue Hole cluster of the Ummahat archipelago, inside the Al Wajh Lagoon on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, reached by boat or seaplane from Red Sea International Airport. It opened in May 2024 as the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Middle East and the third resort to welcome guests at Red Sea Global's destination. Foster + Partners designed its 63 beachfront and overwater villas as shell-like curved forms in sand and sea tones, each with a private pool and a dedicated personal host. On site are Neyrah Spa, the Galaxea diving centre and several restaurants.

The shell-inspired form gives vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that open; inside there is a full kitchen, a dining table seating four and a telescope, a nod to the tribal habit of reading the stars.

Six pavilions holding a French-style patisserie, a Levantine kitchen where hummus is prepared to order, a spice library for the mezze, and a clay oven at the centre that perfumes the place with fresh bread and hosts bread-making classes. Breakfast and lunch most days, dinner on Fridays, closed Saturdays.
An open-air restaurant set for shade and uninterrupted sea views, serving light, fresh plates and cold drinks through the middle of the day, with shisha for those who want it. The most relaxed of Nujuma's venues, and the one that stays open straight through from late morning into the evening.
Built on Saudi Arabia's fishing tradition: the sea's daily bounty, cooked and shared the way it has sustained fishing families along this coast for generations. Dinner only, formal dress, and closed on Tuesdays — the most ceremonial of the Reserve's restaurants and the one most rooted in place.
The Reserve's bar, opening as the sun drops and given over to the night sky: the resort's star experts are on hand to point out what is overhead, and the mocktail list takes its cues from the same place. Open from late afternoon until one in the morning, smart casual.
