Villa Nautica has inaugurated a long-term coral restoration and citizen science project in collaboration with diveOceanus and The Hub 10 – Finland International School. Located in the North Malé Atoll, the resort now functions as a living laboratory where students apply marine biology principles to real-world conservation. Participants spent their initial session identifying coral species and establishing baseline data for five dedicated restoration frames, which are tracked through a digital monitoring system.

This initiative emphasizes long-term growth, with students scheduled to return biannually to document the evolution of these habitats. The project leverages corals that have demonstrated natural resilience to past bleaching events, a strategy managed by diveOceanus to ensure the longevity of the reef. As the program continues, each successive class will inherit the monitoring responsibilities, contributing to the broader conservation efforts currently maintained by Villa Resorts across its properties.
