Ecoboo Maldives is an independent bamboo-built guesthouse on Thinadhoo, an inhabited local island in Vaavu Atoll, approximately 50 metres from the Thinadhoo beach front. The property is constructed almost entirely from bamboo — interior structures, exterior walls, and furniture — with the operators citing roughly 8,000 bamboo poles used in the build, an unusual construction choice in a market dominated by concrete and timber. Vaavu Atoll is one of the least-developed tourism atolls in the Maldives and is best known among divers for its drift-diving channels and encounters with grey reef sharks, eagle rays and seasonal nurse sharks. The guesthouse's operating style falls into the local-island category — guest stays are built around traditional Dhoni-boat excursions to nearby reefs, sandbanks, and neighbouring atoll islands, with meals and activities organised in-house. Thinadhoo itself has a shore-accessible reef rich in corals and fish, usable for self-guided snorkelling directly from the beach. The property emphasises sustainability in its construction materials and positioning, which differentiates it from the standard Maldivian local-island guesthouse offer.
