Dhawa Ihuru will host its annual Rannamaari Dive Fest on 23 May 2026, celebrating the history and ecological significance of the Rannamaari shipwreck. Located just off the island’s shore, the former dredger was submerged in 1999 and has since transformed into a flourishing artificial reef. This event offers participants a chance to explore the site through guided PADI-certified excursions, complemented by underwater treasure hunts and educational sessions led by the resort’s resident marine biologists.
The festival highlights the property’s long-standing commitment to conservation, showcasing pioneering initiatives like the 1996 Barnacle Project and the 1998 Necklace Reef. Beyond the technical diving activities, the day features a variety of island-wide programming, including watersports, local crafts, and beachfront dining. Situated in the North Malé Atoll, the resort is known for its chic private villas and an expansive house reef that provides an accessible gateway to the diverse marine life of the Maldives.
