A broad carpet of finger-like tentacles with rounded tips, on a vividly coloured column of blue, green, red or purple.
Behaviour in the wild
Hosts the endemic Maldive anemonefish and cleaner shrimps; retracts into a ball when threatened. A cnidarian relative of corals and jellyfish.
Where to see it in the Maldives
Reef edges, lagoon reefs and thila tops atoll-wide, wherever anemonefish colonies are found.
